Louise Stewart-Brown

Louise Stewart-Brown was born in Finley near Deniliquin in country New South Wales.

As a young child her family resettled as new land farmers to Esperance in southern Western Australia in the 1960s.

Educated in Perth, in the 1980’s Louise entered the corporate world in the energy and mining sectors, specializing in Personnel Management.

Her recreational loves were always sailing yachts and art. Extensive offshore racing out of the Fremantle Yacht Club was a large part of her life, including the 1994 challenge of sailing the racing yacht “Finistere” back to Fremantle from Hobart.

The love of sailing led to the development of her love of the sea and all creatures in and around it.

Leaving the Corporate world and choosing an artistic path Louise studied art with the University of Western Australia. Majoring in watercolour, she also studied print making, including Screen-Printing, Etching and Linocut.

Her artwork is impressionistic. In the exploration of her theme, Louise has created artworks which are coastal in subject, light-hearted and bring joy to the viewer.

Louise is diverse and has produced in acrylic on canvas, watercolour and inks on paper, plus images on tiles and glassware. She also painted on fabric and produces stunning mosaics.

Louise now resides and teaches art in Esperance.
